Spades Picking the right table for you

Spades Picking The Right Table For You

When choosing a Table here at Spades.com, there are a variety of factors to consider. The first and most obvious one is: “How much am I willing to wager or risk?” I would suggest that you do the following. If this is your first time playing here at Spades.com, we want you to Enjoy your experience, so play for FUN!!! Don’t even use real money initially! This takes off the pressure, and you can be as bold or conservative as you wish! In doing so, you will start to see how the tempo of the game(depending upon whether you play Traditional, Cutthroat (three-person), or Partners) is played, and how different tables have different rules. After a short while, you will find your “Nitch” so to speak, and one style will be more comfortable to you than the others. Once this occurs, you will find that playing for money is just an added incentive or bonus from you having fun and being successful!!!    I found that Cutthroat was the game most suitable to my style of play, but it’s different for each of us. But,…. How do you choose WHICH table to play at??? Well, let’s look at what to take into consideration.
Probably the thing that grabs each of us first is, “How much am I playing for?” When playing at a table, different tables have different “stakes” that you’re playing for. Just remember to play within your limits and play because it’s FUN,… let the money (real or fake) be a bonus. For me it’s the thrill of the competition, and often I try to find a table where my opponents are of equal or greater ranking.   However, remember that ALL of us start as novices here at Spades.com, and so what may “appear” to be a novice, may in fact be a Very experienced player!
Next, depending upon the “Table” you choose, there are still many variables to think about as you prepare to play. One of these is the Time limit that a table has set. This limits or allows (depending upon the time set) the number of potential hands one might play. With the time in shorter games, and/or as one gets close to the end of the time at a particular table, a player should be mindful of the following:

·
By playing quickly, will I improve the chances for another round to occur?

·         If I am leading and feel confident that I will win if this is the last round,... should I allow the maximum possible time to tick off between each play that I make, so as to allow time to expire and ensure that no more rounds will occur?

·         Am I so caught up in the game that I may have overlooked the strategy that my opponent(s) may be pursuing?

Another consideration in choosing a table is what constitutes victory. Usually it is the
number of points one needs to obtain. Other tables simply have a set number of rounds and/or the time limit we just discussed. Remember that the lower the number of points one needs to win, the greater the odds are against you. This is because potentially, a player may win with just one hand if dealt the right cards! Additionally, there is virtually no room for error in such a game, as your chances of recovery are usually slim to non-existent.
Finally, one needs to see what the points for Nello and Blind Nello (if available at that
table). In doing so, you may have options to consider that otherwise wouldn’t be available.
Just remember, no matter what table you choose here at Spades.com, OUR GOAL is for you to have a Good Time, and enjoy this wonderful game of Spades. Good luck!
