Spades Theory
The Spades Game is such a great game and I’ve been playing the game since being a teenager. To play it online has been great at Spadester! One of the reasons I love spades online so much is because of all the different strategies you could use. Of course there is the down-low three bid, where you really have five or six books and you can set somebody trying to three or four bid. You can also get a dream hand of six or seven books, where you can set all three opponents or outscore them. The nill makes the game great for those feeling you are always get dealt a bad hand. On a bad hand deal, the nill gives you a five-hand basically with the 50 points. As long as you have plenty of low cards and low spades, a nill can be pulled at almost any time. Patience is also key in the Spades Game Online and although it’s nice to start a game with a good four or five bid, that’s not always the case. A hand dealt that has one trick, possibly two doesn’t always need to be attempted nil bid. This is where patience comes in. You may be bidding one or two tricks for a low 10 or 20 score, but what can occur will pay bid dividends if you play it safe. An opponent’s nil attempt can be cracked along with a big bid being short, making your 10/20 bid look really good. Now a following four or five bid hand gives you a nice lead after a bad first hand. As long as you get decent hands, your bid is always the difference in close games. I’ve lost plenty of games that I would’ve won, if I would’ve bid right. The spades game can be won with smart bidding and a consistent strategy. I love the intensity of a close game with one last deal. That’s where you have the last game-deciding bid to win some and lose some. When the game is on the line, there are risks to take. You may have to bid an extra book and hope for the best or even nill with some high cards and take the chance of getting 50 points to win the game. Of course if your nill gets cracked, you lose. Live by the nill and die by the nill.
